OT ~ This Just Cracks Me Up

First off, let me be totally clear on two points:
1) I realize that this has absolutely completely NOTHING to do with Mia (which is why I'm working on my family site so I can post things like this)
2) Me posting this is NOT a political statement, but darn it's just too hilarious to pass up no matter what side of the fence you're on.
Every time I need a chuckle I watch this video. I need to be reminded sometimes that the president recognizes how hard I work to put food on my family. And he fills me with the hope that one day my wings will take dreams. snort!

Miss Mia's Mall Meanderings ~ In Black and White

Mia's big sis has a portfolio she has to create of black and white photos taken in a crowded place. So, off to the mall we went. She got some great photos and of course since the camera was out Mia couldn't resist hamming it up.

We went into the Disney store and Mia was in heaven (as usual when surrounded by The Princesses).











There's a huge screen in the Disney store where they peddle the latest Disney fads. Hannah Montana aka "Manna Hannah" began singing. Mia was at first mesmerized then, right there in the store, she broke out singing the song and dancing right along. I had no idea she even knew the song, much less the dance! Below is the video. It looks like it'll be sideways, but once you push play it turns the correct direction. It's in black and white since that's how the camera was already set for the mall photos.

After we left the Disney kingdom we had to go visit a puppy at the pet store (which always breaks my heart!) and then ride in some sort of coin sucking pointless fun.

Update on Dad & Meme

Well, I'm sitting in the hospital right now...again. It's Wednesday morning. On Saturday evening my dad had another heart attack, not as major as the first but another one none-the-less. Then, Monday he had another heart attack while in the hospital. So...later this afternoon he's having a defibrillator put in. Then, within one to two weeks he'll have surgery on his carotid arteries in his neck. All of this has me nervous and confused. He cannot have heart surgery because of the clots in his heart and the doctors said he is too high risk of heart attack and stroke during a surgery, yet here we are having surgery to implant the defibrillator, then neck surgery. The doctors though have not changed their opinion on the risk factor. But, at this point, the risk is worth it. So, say a prayer for my daddy. I know God is in this and loves my dad more than I do. He's been pretty amazing through these episodes with my dad and I've seen two totally amazing things happen that are nothing but God. But even so, still pray please. It can't hurt!

*update* Dad's surgery went wonderful. They took him back an hour and a half ahead of schedule. We thought they just took him to pre-op early. But at the scheduled time for his surgery they came out and told us that he was done. It was very smooth and praise God our friend who is the defibrillator rep (another God story) was with him the whole time. I just got home. When I left Dad had already eaten a turkey sandwich and was back to his usual joking around self. So, next week he'll go back in for the carotid artery surgery. Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes!

Mommy Bragging, Puppy Woes, & What Happened to Tet!

I'm so proud of my brood! Mia's big bros were both in the co-op history fair today. Oldest bro did a project on the history of trains, and second bro did ... Viet Nam...OF COURSE! I was really upset at first because he could have partnered with some other kids and done Rome, making life a lot easier, but truly his heart is for Viet Nam so he stuck to his choice. And, of course he wanted little sis to be part of his display in her aoi dai. I must say she was so cute, and he was too in his conical hat and silk shirt (that we borrowed and it was way too big).






Sunday kicked off missions week at our church. Mia's big sissy broke out of her comfort zone and sang in Spanish with a group of some other folks. She was asked to do this late the night before, she didn't know the words, and she was really nervous but she did great and I was really proud of her.



Okay, puppy talk. So, Mia's daddy got it somehow stuck in his head that he wants a corgi. Honestly, I can remember seeing my first corgi not knowing it was a breed and thinking it was the ugliest thing I'd ever seen. Then when I found out it was a breed I just thought...why. So, when husband decides he wants one...oh, no! But...I start doing research and talking to a certain friend about this and low and behold...I'm in love. I've even joined a Yahoo group for corgis. I've found a breeder and a couple possible pups. But then what happens. Husband decides he doesn't think he's ready to give his heart to another dog after his dog that we had to put to sleep almost two years ago. SO...now I want the dog and he doesn't. And to beat it all, my friend, Nicole, who I'm chatting with and talking puppy with gets it in her head that they should get a puppy and end up with two! I'm so jealous...kind of. (you have to see her dogs OMG!) I still want a corgi! Here's some pups I'm looking at:







Okay, Tet in K-town. Didn't happen! Apparently the faction that puts on the shindig got upset with the other faction who they partner with to fund the shindig and this ensued in some sort of twisted pissing contest and left us with no celebration. Oh, unless we wanted to go to the Buddhist temple at midnight. NOT! sigh... so not celebrating the Year of the Rat for us. Sucks!

Oh and here's a little funny. Mia is obsessed with the song Goodbye Stranger by Supertramp. She wants to listen to it over and over and over and over. Here's some pics in her 'getup' dancing away. She danced to this song for over an hour that night!
